birdhouses-birdbaths Garden Decor Assistive Guideline

I bought one of these dragonfly lights for my front yard. I placed the post in the ground among some flowering shrubs, with the solar collector panel just above the leaves. At night, the stake seems to disappear and it looks like the dragonfly is hovering above the shrubs. It is really lovely. Passersby–evening neighborhood walkers–have actually commented on how nice it looks. I confess that I have actually sat on my front step and enjoyed the display of the color-changing light.
I am buying two more for my yard, and it’s likely that I’ll buy more for Christmas presents.
One caveat that I will add: my Deep South Texas front yard gets a LOT of direct sunlight from about noon to 7 p.m. I don’t know if this is a requirement for the splendid performance that I’ve received from this dragonfly light, but the amount of direct sunlight should be a consideration when ordering these. As long as you have a very sunny area where you’ll place the light, I’m sure you will be as satisfied as I am.

Help answer the question about Garden Decor
At what point is "going over board" when it comes to lawn decor, such as statues, windmills, coloured lights?
I like decorating Garden Decor my lawn and garden but haven't done so because I didn't want it to look gaudy like some people have little garden gnomes and ceramic ducks and such all over the yard. So, I was just wondering what everyone else's opinions on this would be.

i’m very sorry to say but the fountain didn’t work.. i had to go else where to purchase another one.

This solar fountain only works while sunlight is directly on the panel.
For the price, it should have the capability to store power for a period of time. I have other items that cost much less than this that store solar.

I’ve just set up a little front garden with fragrant potted plants, a hummingbird feeder and a small table and chairs and I wanted a water feature which would serve both as a bird bath and provide the sound of splashing water, but there’s no electricity available and I didn’t want to wire something in. I have a 24″ wide pot with pretty rocks and water. I set up the fountain as soon as it arrived, in the middle of the night. I’d read the mixed reviews here and was a little nervous, but in the morning I had lovely splashing water. I played around a little with the solar panel placement (it comes with both a stake and a mount for attaching it to a deck, roof, etc.) and my fountain splashes prettily all day. The fountain too comes with a float for deeper ponds or can be set in the bottom of a shallower pond (as I have mine). There are three different fountain heads. I used the one with the most sprays and it sprays about eight inches up all day long, as long as it’s sunny. Even when the sun goes behind a cloud, the fountain gets lower but doesn’t stop spraying.

I’ve only had it for three days, but so far it’s absolutely perfect. All of my neighbors have commented on my lovely fountain and the wonderful sound of splashing water.

This replacement pump is so fantastic! With the detachable solar panel, I never run out of sun for the fountain! Right now, the wind is blowing, so the water gets shot over the bowl. I have refilled the bowl once already today, so take caution to not let your bowl run dry.

Another good feature of this product is it’s adaptability. I have a racoon problem, where they come up to the fountain at night, remove the solar panel, and wash their food out in the deeper resevoir. This is what broke the first unit. With the current item, I am able to load it down with rocks, so the racoons can’t move it where ever they want to.Smart Solar SunJet 150 Solar-Powered Water Pump

I purchased three of the solar powered Moonray’s #99924 color changing glass balls as a gift and I wish I had ordered more. The colored lights change seven times as stated and stay lite for a very long time. In fact these beautiful globes are still going strong in the morning after my other solar walkway lights have turned off. The first night we installed them (stuck them in the ground and let the sun charge) We had a bunch of friends over that could not get over how “cool” these changing light were. I clustered the three of them in our very large garden area (25 X 12 feet) and am in the process of purchasing more for our other garden. The price on Amazon cannot be beat by the other garden catalogs that sell them. So if you want to see a spectacular show of color, buy these and not the ones that have colored glass or only change to three colors.

Moonrays 99924 Color-Changing Glass Ball Fixture

I love my Moonrays Color-Changing Glass Ball Fixtures! (Although I’m not completely enamored with Amazon). We saw similar color changing globes during a trip to the coast and decided to create the same romantic tranquil feeling back home. I read countless reviews of similar products, realized I wanted metal stakes and glass globes for their sturdiness, and seven colors instead of three for their variety- ergo, my Moonrays selection. The pictures on Amazon do not do them justice. They are much prettier in person. However, some things to keep in mind: the lights are great accent lighting, yet too dim for walkways; they do change to multiple colors, yet don’t be surprised if they cycle red more frequently and longer than any other color; they look best if you have more than one; and most important, make sure they all work before sticking them in the ground. Specifically, they’ll need at least one full day in the sun to fully charge. You may need to exchange some to get them all working. Winter is a difficult time to figure out if them not turning on, or not turning on long enough, is the product or simply limited sun exposure. In the winter, they may only stay lit a couple of hours in the evening, even if they are “working properly”. But, now that we’re into late March and have more daylight hours, I can wake in the early morning and still see some of them lit. I absolutely love them and only wish they’d stay lit longer in the winter. (We bought nine of them late last year- exchanged three).

I bought four, and installed two. Within three weeks, one has completely stopped working. I have owned solar lights like this before, and they do seem to be spotty in longevity.

We`ve had these lights for about 2 weeks. I bought 5 of them. They are wonderful to watch the lights change from blue, green, red, and so on. My wife just loves them and so do I. People slow down as they drive by to look at them. We have them across the front of our house and they just look great. The price is a little high but I bought them anyway.

Denzinger July 20, 2010 at 10:00 pm

I purchased these last summer and everyone that comes over just goes crazy over them. They even light up during the winter with snow piled up around them, although not for as long of a time because it doesn’t get enough solar in the winter. Very subtle addition to your garden and landscaping.

This adorable little half-dog has really given our garden personality. We are so glad we found this! All of my neighbors have commented how unique it is. They had no idea such a garden decoration even existed. If you are looking for something to add character to your garden, don’t hesitate to purchase this. We are extremely pleased with the product. Other websites sell similar products, however the pricing is substantially higher and/or the item needs to be shipped from the United Kingdom.

This little half-Westie is virtually life-sized, and the texture on it is very realistic. Quality is excellent. A fun conversation piece at a great price!

It looks just like the picture displays. Its great size. Looks hilarious in the yard. My mom loved it.

Normally I purchase my birdfeeders through local recommendations but this birdfeeder was on sale and I didn’t have time to shop around so I took a chance and bought this one sight unseen.
I’ve had it now for over two weeks and I am completely happy with this purchase. It attracts mostly chickadees and cardinals. The cardinals sit on the platform area in the center of the feeder and take out a safflower from one side – eat it, then switch to the sunflower that I have on the other side. They love it.
The main reason why I gave this feeder 5 stars is because of it’s ability to keep the seed inside dry. With every other feeder I’ve ever owned (many of them 3 times the price of this one) I’ve never had one that could boast that fact. I usually end up with a moldy, soggy mess after a good thunderstorm. This weekend, my feeder went through the ultimate test: Hurricane Ike just ripped through my city, dumping almost 11 inches of rain in 48 hours and unbelievably, there wasn’t a wet seed in the feeder – even in the bottom. I do agree with some of the other reviewers in that if you are looking for a squirrel-proof feeder, this wouldn’t be a good choice as there is nothing to deter them from emptying out the seed ports. I have mine on a standard pole with baffle though, and nothing can get to it but the birds. I definitely would purchase this feeder again.

Diem July 22, 2010 at 10:22 pm

This is a great bird feeder for watching birds. It is nice because the birds are all against the back drop of the sky instead of being in front or behind the feeder. We had at least eight birds feeding at once and you could see them all at the same time. None are hiding behind the feeder. FYI – The finches actually like it better when you leave the pearches down and the seed hole big.

I purchased 5 of these on Amazon for around $5.00 each on special. I filled them and gave them to my kid’s teachers for Christmas. I was really surprised that they were so big. They were a huge hit and well worth the price I paid. If they go on sale again, I will buy more for gifts and one for myself.

Nahouli July 23, 2010 at 10:16 pm

This is a pretty feeder, and has lots of eating spaces. Looks great for the smaller chickadees and titmouses, but is a bit small for our favorites, the cardinals. Also, it’s lighter weight than I expected, and I think the squirrels will eat it up pretty quickly.
