I have purchased the previous models of the Brita pitchers and there has always been an issue with the design. Not this time. They have finally come out with a style that really works.
Pros:
1. Non-slip grip on the Handle
2. A Knob you can press to open the port to fill with water. I previously had to remove the top to fill it with water.
3. The spout has a cover that only opens when you pour.
4. Filter replacement reminder.
5. The water does taste better than tap or bottled spring water.
6. It removes almost all the contaminants.
7. Slim design. Easilty fits in the fridge.
Cons:
1. Before you can use a new filter, you have to leave the filter submerged in water for 15 minutes, then you have to rinse it out. Then you have to fill it up twice, and throw the water away. Just a little tedious.
Summary:
Nice new design and it really cleans the water very well.

This is a good water filter, I just wished it lasted a little longer, but over all good value.
The filter that I needed was easy to find on the Amazon site, it was cheaper than any other place i could have ordered it from, and it came very quickly. All good.
When we recently upgraded our kitchen, our contractor suggested that we purchase a new refrigerator that would be counter width. We did and it was a great solution. The filter that came with new appliance needs to be replaced about once a year or two depending on the traffic in our house. The refrigerator was bought at Sears at a reasonably good price. The filter however when purchased through Sears was 50$. I thought that was a bit steep for something that is needed once or twice a year, so I searched on Amazon and found a filter that was approximately 40% cheaper including shipping. Not only that I didn’t have to drive to Sears.
It has stronger taste at the beginning. After a couple of days, it becomes normal.
Not much to say, it fits into the Whirpool fridge in the new house and now the water is nice and pur.
This item is very easy to install. I just looked for the filter slot which on my fridge was on the bottom, and pushed the release. Out popped the old and with a switch of the filter cap, in went the new. You have to run the filter for a couple of minutes afterwards, waste of water unless you are gonna water plants or something, but after that Pur and clean water. If you have this filter for your fridge, order this, its simple and the water tastes great.
Same filter that came with our Kitchen Aid refrigerator. Have purchased several now, and it is easier to order than shopping locally.
These work great and is the best price I have found on them plus you pay no tax (for now) and the shipping was free.
Does not seem to hold as much water as previous pitcher, but certainly fits better
in refrigerator.
I just got Brita 42629 Slim Pitcher today, when I put filter inside, and add water in , but terrible thing happened,
the water came out is black color . Can you tell me why?
The little black granules that everyone talks about are definitely a problem for me. And we found something else swimming in the water. Our other bigger, Brita pitcher is better than the small one insofar as suspicious looking stuff floating around, but still. . . As someone else said, I bought it take the junk out of the water, not to put it in. Done with Brita.
Have used for a couple of months now. Stores nicely on the shelf in my office. No accidental spillage, no messes. Other reviewers have complained about the top falling off when tilting the pitcher to pour. I simply lay one finger on the top when pouring and that works fine. As long as you’re not tilting the pitcher to some high angle, I don’t think there should be a problem.
I’ve bought these filters for years, but the last batch (bought on amazon) are no good — a lot of carbon particles in the bottom of the pitcher each time I refill it, and the water runs through much too fast. No appreciable difference in taste when compared with regular tap water. I am hoping this is just a bad batch and they haven’t changed suppliers/factories/manufacturing standards.
Many consumers who buy this product believe that it eliminates lead from their drinking water. The product specs on Amazon also claims 99% lead removal.
When I examined their pitcher, I found a lot of legal stff at the bottom of the pitcher in very hard to read font. This alerted me – if a product does eliminate 99% lead, why would they not advertise it in big letters right in front?
Then I looked carefully at the box in which the replacement filters came in.
Turns out – The certification is on the side of the box – is again in very tiny font. So you will normally fail to notice it is in there. The only claims made are for copper, mercury and cadmium. No mention of lead. Why can’t Brita tell us what the deal is regarding lead reduction in BIG COLORFUL font?
If you are using this product believing it to reduce lead levels – time to wake up. I’m going back to my earlier sears system which was NSF certified to remove 99% of lead.
I thought this contained 10 filters. This impression was from others’ reviews (e.g. a review on Feb 10 by Corvallis, OR mentions this is 10-pack) as well as the package image that showed 10 filters (this image is now nonexistent but was there about a week ago when I ordered it). At Target, you can get 6 filters for $27. I love this product, but will definitely buy somewhere else next time.
Most others have written a lot about Brita. The most vital thing about it is it removes enough chlorine to make the water smell and taste better. It also removes many other harmful contaminants, but not enough to make it safe for human consumption, although it does a close job to it. If your water isn’t safe to drink from the tap, Brita will not make it safe.
It is not sophisticated enough to remove contaminants down to undetectable or EPA safe levels. This has been studied in many third party analysis of in-home water filters.
This filter works perfectly!
I connected it in less than a minute, let the water flow like the directions said, and now I have wonderfully filtered water.
I especially love the small profile, and water knob that switches from filtered and regular water, because I have a small sink area.
This product works lovely, and the water pressure is surprisingly great!
I highly recommend you try this before brita and pur filtration systems!
As I was saying in the title, we have had every brand of water filter on our sink since we moved in, (roughly 7 years). Our city water is pretty good, not nearly as bad as my parents water that comes from a well. Brita are very expensive, and I could never get it to install well enough so that it wouldn’t leak all the time. PUR was the same way. Also, those replacement filters were just about as expensive as the whole unit so I often just bought a new unit instead of bothering with a filter hoping it would stop leaking.
I decided to give Culligan a shot. Growing up in South Florida, Culligan water softeners were everywhere. The unit price is very good and the replacement filter cost is awesome. Installing the unit was straight forward. I have a new faucet that had a female connector so I had to use an adapter. Once I put that in it was a snap to install the Culligan. One thing I like alot about the unit is that it swings freely from one side to the other.
Leaks (+)
Doesn’t leak at all and moves freely from either side of the faucet without any leaking.
Taste (+)
Like I was saying our water is pretty good but can taste a bit chlorine like at times and this filter cleans it even further.
Features (+)
As other reviews mentioned its great to pull out the knob, let your glass fill and then when you turn it off it goes back to the faucet automatically.
Flow (-)
One thing I am a bit disappointed with is the water flow. It is significantly slower than our last filter (Brita). I can only assume its cleaning better.
Overall (+)
This is a fine filter making water that is almost tasteless. Even if you live where the water is “clean” it cant hurt to filter the water one more time before you drink it.
Tip: Run the water for a couple of minutes after install because the first bit that comes out is black.
Thanks for reading my review.
